Volunteer Opportunity – Board Member, St. Leonard’s Place Peel
St. Leonard’s Place Peel is seeking new members for our Board of Directors!
St Leonard’s Place Peel is a secular community benefit organization serving men experiencing serious mental illness, homelessness, and who have involvement with the justice system. We are seeking applications from individuals interested in volunteering on our Board of Directors. Our board members share in the fulfillment of the organization’s vision, shape strategy and contribute to the fulfillment of governance responsibilities including oversight of policy development, financial processes, risk management, and regulatory compliance. Board members typically serve for a term of three years.
Community members with expertise in the areas of fundraising, policy/governance, finance, government relations and collaborative and integrated service delivery initiatives are especially welcome to apply.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Participate in setting and monitoring the strategic directions and policies of the organization;
- Ensure fiscal responsibility;
- Participate in the development of long-term plans for the organization;
- Attend and actively participate in Board meetings (approximately 10 meetings per annum held in Brampton on the 1st Monday of the month); and,
- Serve on a minimum of one committee of the board and work independently on assigned activities.
